19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and regular reactions on court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional championship, took control to force a third set.

Moutet defended four initial break points in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
